Racial Slurs and Delores Wiggins

Here we go again with Delores Wiggins sticking here nose into another racial case. The newly elected Mayor of Mingo Junction, Mayor Domenick Chapano is in hot water for allegedly making racial slurs at a city council meeting.

Whether he did this or not is not exactly what my problem is here. What my problem is here is with Delores Wiggins. On numerous occasions she rushed right in flinging racism around and calling foul every chance she gets.

First off do not get me wrong here - I am not a racist in anyway shape or form, I personally accept people for who they are regardless of race. With that said what does bother me are those that do not let racism go, they practically promote it. Oddly enough I am talking about specific people in our communities. I hate to name names but one in Particular ALWAYS comes to mind and that is Delores Wiggins. People like her help keep the racism flame burning in my opinion. Her intentions and heart are probably in the right place, but how she comes across is wrong. In the past year or so she was good at sticking her nose into anything that involved an African American and how she felt they were wronged. Defending a person is one thing but rushing to the side of an African American right way and pointing the proverbial racism finger at everybody keeps racism going strong in our community. She has been especially involved with incidents involving children, at least those are the ones that really stick out in my mind and that is promoting to these children that African Americans singled out or are targeted. Those children then grow up remembering that - it's something a child does not forget. Of course the minute a white child or student does the SAME thing or was harassed by a black student Delores is NO WHERE to be found. It's good for her to do for one and not the other? - is that not Racism?? In her case it is reversed of what "society" views as racism. She is a high profile African American who will rush to the aid of any black child but not for a white child?

Now maybe I do not know all of the facts and maybe indeed she does do this, but its obviously not news worthy then if she does. Which bring me to a question then, How much do the news networks play a part in Racism? Personally I believe they contribute significantly to Racism, but before I get into a rant about that I would like to hear you opinions on it.

Just as a side note, could you imagine trying to Start and All WHITE College Fund??? Or Maybe and ALL WHITE TV Channel. Could you imagine the hornets nest stirred up then? But yet we have the United Negro College Fund and we have Black Entertainment Television (BET) etc just to name a few that are popular.

Katabatic's Gravatar Dolores Wiggins reminds me of a female Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. She is quick to condemn anyone, who has white skin, of "racism". Ms. Wiggins actually enjoys the strife she stirs in the community and laughs about it, with her friends in private. Fighting "racism" is not a vocation for her. It is entertainment, pure and simple. And it's a shame because there is REAL racism that occurs in Wheeling and the Ohio Valley. The overwhelming majority is "black on white" racism. And everyone knows it

Frank's Gravatar I think she's a shakedown artist. She makes a big stink, and the scared politicians give her and her friends jobs, to shut her up. Just like Jesse Jackson, trying to shake businesses down for some benifits, and if they don't, they get called racists!

Walter's Gravatar Every T.V. Station is predominately white. Country Music Channel, MTV, and there's a united negro college fund bcuz the black economy is still suffering from years of mis management on the black community and the white community as long as black people are a minority there will be help for them bcuz that's the american way

Courtney's Gravatar Now this is my grandmother that you all are talking about. There is nothing wrong with her fighting for African American rights b/c we all now after all these years black people still get treated wrong. I am not racist by any means b/c it's not about the color of a persons skin, but what is in their heart. No matter how much we try, other people are still going to see color. You can't make everyone see peoples heart. My grandmother is by no means racist. She has 5 grandchildren that are half white and she gets along with their white family just fine. If you get angry b/c someone is trying to fight for another black persons rights, then you may be racist yourself. My grandmother has a very kind heart, and she has many white friends and if they ever needed her she is right there. TV does of good job of pointing out things that they want the people to see to make good news. So people please get the facts before you start blogging and making your comments.

forthesakeofargument's Gravatar I am sure your grandmother has a big heart, however you pointed out one important fact, she fights for african americans. Maybe the news doesn't cover her helping out other races and personally I have never heard of her doing so. Now if she is ONLY concerned with the african american population don't you think that might be a little one sided? Seems to me if I only helped people of other color except african americans then I would be labled a racists. No matter what anyone says or does racism will always exists and this does not just refer to african americans. It is a sad reality but we as a human race tend to stir controversey everytime we turn around. I am sure outside the publics eyes she is a wonderful person, but she certainly has not showed me she is concerned with anything BUT the african american. If she was truly interested in purging racism from the world she would be working with ALL groups of people, black, white, red or yellow. To be quite honest racism is dwindling ALOT... 40 years ago an african american surely would NEVER have been able to hold the highest office in the free world. SO I think for the most part america has overcome a great deal of its racists tendencies, sure it has a long way to go, but in order for that to happen EVERYBODY has to unite and just be AMERICANS - not African Americans not Spanish Americans etc. The sooner we realize we can all come together as one country as Americans the sooner racism will be no longer a topic, it will exist to some just for the simple fact somone does not get highered or someone does not get treated properly etc and the first thing they do is cry racism. That needs to stop as well. Life is life...I know people that are not African Americans that have the same problem but they can not cry RACISM, the have NO organization to turn to for help and I can just imagine what would happen if a white person who felt slighted an needed help came to your grandmother ... do you really think she would extend her helpig hand and risk the publicity?
